Offline to Online Development - Ideas for E-commerce and Beyond

Last night I attended the British computing society’s 50 birthday party. which made me think where will we be in another 50 years.

One of the discussions that came up was Japan. I like Japan. I have never visited the country but I like it from an economic piont of view. Japan in land mass is a tiny country. Yet in output it is second only to America. That means forget Europe and the Germans, the UK, China you name it.

It is an incredible achievement.

So when we talk about being competitive in the next 50 years we may have to take a closer look
at Japan.

It is not hard to see why they  are so successful. Anyone who has visited Japan
will know that they have automated anything that can be automated.

Not in a dull fashion but with real innovation that embodies the human condition.

They have been fearless with technology and look at the results that it brings. I dare say that a good example of this is Virgin trains who seem to understand that innovation is a business necessity.
