Everyday around 1.3 million people go to work with out the skills they require according to a new study.
These statistics undoubtedly affect the economy, but a skills for business survey found that a there are still significant barriers to putting the situation right. Here are couple tips. Helping employees to move in their career can be done in a number of ways and need not cost the earth.
1. Appoint someone to identify areas that need improving.
2. See whether you have the skills in house or need to hire in a training professional to provider the skill.
3. Provide training on site during less busy periods.
4. Provide some from of certification weather that is in house or a recognized body.
5. Offer a bonus to encourage learning and improvement.
Results have shown that companies and employees benefit from a mixture of formal and informal training.

Business relationships are just like any other sort of relationships. I have heard it said many times that that people do not mix business with pleasure or say may I introduce a colleague. We may think that we have to work less hard on our realtionships with colleagues because we are being paid to do a job. Nothing could be further from the truth. If one wants to be successful at work then they are going to have to develop relationships. What kind of relationship you choose to develop will give a fair idea of how you feel about your work. From a purely mathematical point of view. A person will probably spend more of their time with their colleagues than anybody else. What kind of relationship would you like? Would you mix business with pleasure?

When it comes around to the beginning of the week after the break, it always reminds me of a qoute from Simon Cowell who said that whatever he was doing whether he was washing cars or doing the more successful x factor he would go to work with a smile. I wonder how many of us can say the same. Of course these days there is very little excuse for not doing something that you like. As the opportunities to find the work you want are so great. It is still very much an employee market. Most firms consider that they cannot find the right staff according to Rec. The big question is do companies have an unreal perspective for employees or are employees looking for something more to engage them.

There are many sorts of stress, stress getting on with people. Family life stress, partner stress to name but a few and to top it all off no stress at all is not good for us.
So how does one keep the balance? The first step is being aware of it…..
Once you have done that you can start to work on other techniques to mange your stress and maintain a balance.
There are a lot of people who have no idea about the stress they feel every day, unfortunately is is not possible to tell them as stress stops proper communication. A catch 22.

What is in a challenge how does it benefit myself.
In my varied experience of life it has come to my attention how you could possible divide people into two catorgies. this has no benefit for me but it does demonstrate a very interesting point. What makes one person want to fly 2000 miles to climb a mountain in kenya, or another to give up all there possessions and go and live a monks life. We are of course challenged. everyone is challenged from the day they are born to there last dying breath. I can remember a time thinking how do I stop getting challenged. It seemed to me that less you were challenged the more peaceful existence one can lead. This is nonsense not only is it not possible, but it incredible boring which leads to whole host of less favourable situations .
No we are born to be challenged in some way or the other and the quicker we rise up to it the more prepared will be. It is going to happen anyway so one might as well get something out of it.

Personally I think networks will come ago, a bit like music sensations. Top of the pops for a while then on to the next one. Of course you will have your evergreens. Will anyone remember Facebook in five years time? or will have developed a new way of communication?

It has been a while since I have blogged, as I’ve been so busy with work and family and I had a really bad cold. During my time off I had some time to think about what it is? that we talk about. Who do I mean when referring to “we”? Well everybody … communication whether written, spoken, texted, - is an interesting process. Some people will talk all the time about a lot of things that they do not know. Others will use the internet. The amount of mis-information on the internet is remarkable. How does one distinguish between what is accurate and correct and what is baloney. Generally speaking, it is a combination of factors that focus our mind on whether someone is worth doing business with. How someone looks is pretty important. If they look like they have not taken much time over their appearance, then you have to ask yourself: “Would they take much time on any work I would give them? The only way to find that out, is to talk to them . There are lots of people of course who have the gift of the gab. If they are really strong in this area, they are more than likely they will be less strong in other areas. It is a balancing game. Specific areas a person excels in, will mean they will have other areas where they perform less well in. So it is important to assess what you are looking for in the beginning…. When you have noted this you will be in a stronger position to be able to get it…
